The idea of the pulse of education was inspired by Pulse of Open Source. Their website has a simple feed of a twitter account that is following particular twitter users who are industry leading open source contributers. Cool Cat Teacher, Vicki Davis, stumbled upon the pulse of open source and tagged it on her Del.icio.us account. During Chad Hutchins', of TeacherHubs, daily RSS feed reading, he found Cathy's post regarding the pulse of open source. Cathy showed interest in making a pulse focused on educators who use technology in the classroom. Chad acted upon the request, and within a few days pulseofedu.com was born.
